Why is there water under my refrigerator?
Short answer

The reasoning behind that
Clean water pooling at the front means a fitting on the ice maker supply line has let go. Cloudy water, with ice on the freezer floor, means the defrost drain has iced closed.
How the diagnosis goes
What we check, in order: where the water is genuinely coming from, which is rarely where it is pooling; the defrost drain and its trough; the drain heater on models that have one; the ice maker fill line and every compression fitting behind the unit; and the door seals, because a gasket admitting humid air produces condensation that looks exactly like a leak.
Coastal humidity puts more water through that drain every day than an inland unit ever sees, which is why the frozen-drain version is the one we find most often on this side of the county. The reason we ask people to treat this as urgent is the floor, not the appliance. A built-in sits in a sealed run of cabinetry, so water from a split line travels under the base and into the subfloor for days before it appears anywhere you can see it. In these kitchens that is usually engineered wood or stone over slab, and the flooring cost passes the repair cost inside a week.
